Why is Marble So Popular? Legacy Marble & Granite

Ever since ancient times, marble has seduced mankind with its subtle variations of color against its white and gray background. It invites you to touch its polished surface and linger over its silky feel. The appearance of the stone changes over time, gathering a patina of age and experience. It speaks of luxury, comfort, and dependability. Marble maintains its position as a popular surface for contemporary kitchens as it also reflects current trends in decor and style.

Types of Edging for Marble Countertops Legacy Marble & Granite

You can select any type of edging that Legacy Marble & Granite offers for your marble countertop including:

  • Top and Bottom: A subtly eased edge that eliminates sharp corners and creates a soft yet classic appearance.
  • Crescent: Run your hand along the soft curve that wraps around the entire edge of your marble countertop
  • Ogee: The marble takes a sharp turn down at the edge, pauses for a small hill, and then drops off in a breathtaking “O Gee!” style.
  • Chiseled: Opt for a more refined edge cut into the front of your stone. The sharp angles complement modern kitchen decor.

Mitered: This elegant technique hides the seams of the counter and wraps the front and sides in a continuation of the countertop.

How Does Marble Compare with Other Stone Countertops Legacy Marble & Granite

Marble is a metamorphic limestone that includes dolomite and calcite. When compared to granite and quartzite, marble is a much softer stone. It will develop a patina as the countertop ages as it collects minor scuffs and scratches from daily use. The harder stones maintain the factory-fresh polish for a longer time, but that gloss may not appeal to every homeowner.

Just like other natural stone countertops, your marble counter should be maintained by using the recommended cleaning product that includes a daily conditioner. This maintains its sealant and helps to prevent premature aging.

Marble is harder than soapstone, which is often known for its dark color palette and is often featured in industrial modern kitchen decor.

The Maintenance and Care of Marble Countertops Legacy Marble & Granite

At Legacy Marble & Granite, we recommend using Supreme Surface Granite Cleaner & Conditioner for wiping up all your daily messes and spills. This product contains a unique conditioner that maintains the seal on your natural stone. Use a soft dishcloth and pick up a spill immediately for best results.

If you need something a little stronger to remove a mark, you can try a little denatured alcohol and water.

We always suggest the use of hot pads, trivets, cutting boards, and coasters under all your dishes, pans, and glasses to prevent any scratches or marks from forming on your marble countertop.
